TERMS

  • The project is scheduled to start in January 2025 and will run for approximately 6+ weeks (with the option to extend).
  • Contract type: fixed-term employment or freelance project.
  • The position requires a commitment of 56 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the construction and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems for a hydrogen electrolysis production and purification plant, including managing two hydrogen electrolyser units, power supply units, cryogenic purification units, and a low-voltage switchgear container.
  • Supervise the installation of field instruments, automated valves, gas detection equipment, and electrical systems, ensuring mechanical completion and interfacing with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) through various communication protocols.
  • Act as the primary liaison between local construction management and the engineering home office, addressing all queries and coordinating efforts across electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Lead quality assurance efforts by identifying deficiencies, organizing improvement measures, and supporting the clearance of construction punch items.
  • Participate in site construction team meetings, contribute to on-site solution development, and manage trouble shooting and technical support activities.
  • Execute pre-checks, energize panels and subsystems, and oversee the supervision of instrument and electrical function tests along with control loop commissioning.
  • Support documentation and reporting in the Completion Management System to achieve mechanical completion, including managing red-marking and as-built documentation.
  • Provide pre- and post-commissioning support, including supervising loop checks, electrical cable tests, interface tests, and supporting handover management activities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role within chemical plant construction or a related industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of instrumentation technology, control systems, and industry-specific standards including European Codes and Standards, especially ATEX, PED, and Electrical Codes.
  • Proficient in planning and supervising instrumentation and electrical installations, with hands-on experience in Siemens PCS7, field instruments, and control valves.
  • Proven pre-commissioning and commissioning experience, with a strong understanding of explosion hazards and protection measures, particularly for hydrogen applications.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing diverse teams.
  • Fluent in English, with proficiency in speaking and writing; knowledge of Dutch is highly advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word).
