YOUR PROJECT ASSIGNMENT

TEICON ENGINEERING is currently hiring Field Quantity Surveyors for a large scale industrial process plant construction project in the Beaumont–Port Arthur metropolitan area, Texas.

This is a site based role within a major EPC construction environment where the successful candidate will support reliable construction progress measurement, quantity verification, and project controls reporting.

The position plays a key role in ensuring that contractor reported installed quantities, workforce levels, and percent complete accurately reflect actual field conditions.

  • Contract Type: Fixed term employment or independent contractor (1099)
  • Duration: Up to one year, with the option to extend

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform regular field walkdowns across active construction areas to verify installed quantities across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation scopes.
  • Validate contractor reported quantities and daily progress reports against observed field installation and current IFC drawings.
  • Confirm construction percent complete based on measured installed quantities and agreed project measurement methodologies.
  • Review contractor submitted quantity logs, daily reports, and field documentation and document acceptance or deviations.
  • Coordinate joint re measurement activities with contractor supervision when discrepancies between reported and observed quantities occur.
  • Capture supporting documentation including marked up drawings, field notes, photographic evidence, and signed verification records.
  • Validate contractor reported labour hours and workforce levels through field observations and headcount verification.
  • Support monitoring of contractor productivity factors (PF) by correlating installed quantities with reported labour hours.
  • Provide reliable field data to the Project Controls team to support schedule updates, progress measurement, earned value calculations, and reporting.
  • Prepare concise daily and weekly quantity verification reports for the Project Controls Lead.
  • Escalate recurring discrepancies, unclear measurement rules, or potential productivity concerns to project management.

YOUR PROFILE

  • You have a degree or technical diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Controls, or a related technical discipline.
  • You have several years of experience in field quantity surveying, construction progress measurement, or project controls on industrial or infrastructure projects.
  • You are experienced in validating installed quantities, verifying contractor reports, and supporting construction progress reporting.
  • You have strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including IFC drawings, revisions, and as built documentation.
  • You are comfortable performing routine field inspections and site walkdowns within active industrial construction environments.
  • You are able to communicate clearly with contractors, field supervision, construction management, and project controls teams.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Primavera P6 or other project controls tools is considered an advantage.
  • You demonstrate a strong commitment to construction safety and HSE compliance.
  • You communicate professionally in English and are willing to work on site in the United States for the full project duration.
